Wacaco Picopresso Portable Espresso Maker – 18 Bar Pressure

The picopresso is a nice upgrade from the minipresso gr2. The 18g basket is compatible with standard espresso machine accessories, and the metal dosing funnel, tamper, and base feel premium. It also includes an 8g scoop, brush, and distribution tool, are a nice touch, but not very useful.

Having used the gr2 helped with dialing in and getting a feel for the right pressure. The picopresso uses twice as much coffee, so expect to go through beans faster while dialing in. It also requires a much finer grind than the gr2 to build proper pressure and produce good crema. Preheating the pump improves extraction.

Cleanup is easy but messier than the gr2. The shower screen can fall out when removing the basket, and the puck must be knocked out instead of being cleanly ejected.

Received the item in less than 10 days, and it came in 3 layers of packaging that ensured the inner box is pristine. The product definitely felt very premium to unpack, and a pleasure to use on a daily basis!

Surprised by how well built this product is! I got the picopresso as i wanted an espresso maker that would not take up too much space in my kitchen. Overall, i find the product rather easy to use as a beginner to espresso making! There is definitely still room for me to experiment with to get a better cup of espresso. very well packaged and very good product, everything compact and of good quality. I've been testing it and the espresso comes out with foam as if it were a professional coffee maker, you just need to have good ground coffee and you'll get good results. I think we'll have a coffee maker for a while if I take care of it.

I'm using the wacaco picopresso and the mhw-3 bomber r3 hand grinder. This was the most delicious cup of coffee i've had in my life so far — of course, made with fairly fresh beans with a high robusta content. Highly recommended!

I wanted to love this coffee machine so much. I only possessed 3 wacaco coffee machines. The steel one is the worst coffee maker. The capsule one is great machine, the only problem with this is when you want to remove capsules, it gets very tight. And the newest picopresso is nothing impressive, i haven’t been able to make a creamy coffee, no matter the amount of coffee, no matter the ground, no matter the coffee type. No matter how hot the water is. It just doesn’t seem to have enough pressure to make a creamy coffee. I am really disappointed. I use an automatic krups machine which makes creamy coffee. For example if i use a bad quality coffee the cream is bad. But i live in the south part of mexico 🇲 🇽 Where there is really great quality coffee beans. So please don’t expect anything great about the result of the machine, coffe doesn’t taste the same as when it is made with an automatic coffee machine. Sadly

I'm already buying a second one. The first one lasted a little over two years. Used it every day. The internal thread at the bottom of the body where the basket is attached broke (last photo) and it started to come loose. But it's more likely my fault, I didn't always guess correctly with grinding and had to pump with great effort, creating intense pressure. Although I would have liked the manufacturer to take this into consideration.
And yet I ordered again. Arrived quickly. Packed well, everything is intact. Compact and convenient. I use it at home and take it with me everywhere. Most importantly, it brews very delicious espresso!
